Rebuttal to Adam Who on the Infidels forum

Adam Who recently made some comments on the infidels forum accusing believers as he calls them for making up excuses, lame arguments etc.

Here is what he said about believers

There are countless posters over the years which have come with many tactics but one of the favorites is the 'JAQing off' (Just asking a question) game

1. Come with an agenda. (creationist, psuedoscience, politics you name it... even pedophiles and neo-nazis)

- Talking about agenda how ironic he's made it perfectly clear that he's got an agenda from his responses he gave me as well as other posters.

2. Start with "I am just asking a question" when they had no intention of actually listening or learning something.

3. When confronted with facts they play the "oh your so closed minded" card or if they have taken a philosophy class they might use "but we really cannot know anything"

I don't remember me saying your so closed minded I just refuted him with counter arguments that he didn't like. Also, many times I was listening to their replys to my own posts however none of them hold any water. That of course makes them go on the defensive.

4. When finally cornered and called on their BS. They will either lash-out and windup getting banned, pretend some false humility and start JAQ with the next idea or a new naive poster, or they just might leave.

Yes cornered by a bunch of naturalists who are not willing to consider the possibility that they maybe wrong.

5. Repeat as needed

Not necessary

Adam- The bottom line is that this forum has always been about debunking and that can be an ugly business for the true believers.

Yes your correct Adam and I would urge anyone who has looked at the evidence for life after death and psi to stay clear of the infidels forum. Because they will go to such lengths as attacking your character calling you mentally unstable among other things.

He also goes on and says that pseudoscientists use scientism to discredit naturalist scientists who use facts and evidence.

"In practice it is an attempt to discredit someone who uses facts and evidence to trump the subjective experiences or feelings of a believer".

- No it isn't its naturalist scientists who use apriori assumptions on the nature of reality.

Why decoding thoughts and other aspects of the mind doesn't show that there origin is in the brain

There has been a lot of progress in neuroscience with fmri's in decoding thoughts and dreams this is usually assumed to support the view that the mind origin is in the brain. However abstracting images from my tv doesn't prove that the origin of those images is coming from my television set. There is a lot of examples of very tight correlations among many different things however doesn't prove that one can't exist without the other. Another analogy next to a tv would be a dvd player it's sort of like what a DVD player does on a TV screen when you pop in a DVD and hit play. Credit to Michael Prescott: I Also like to point there is a new interview on skeptiko featuring Chris Carter which Michael Prescott on his blog has also pointed out today where he states in his view that the evidence for an afterlife is overwhelming. http://www.skeptiko.com/scientific-evidence-of-afterlife-overwhelming-chris-carter/

The Rock winning the World title at the Royal Rumble and other Royal Rumble results

I think it was a big mistake for the Rock to win the Wwe world champion at the Royal Rumble by defeating CM Punk. I mean seriously he's not dedicated to wrestling anymore he's where the big money is and that is in movies not wrestling. Surprise surprise its looks like he won't be on Monday night raw next week. Plus, he's got another movie coming out in February. Other Royal Rumble results - John Cena won the 30 man over the top royal rumble - Alberto Del Rio wwe world champion defeated the Big Show in a last man standing match. - Kane and Daniel Bryan the wwe tag team champions defeated Damien Sandow and Cody Rhodes. It wasn't a bad royal rumble pay-per-view overall though.

It's not my time

A three doors song makes you think with these lyrics its called "Its' not my Time" It's not my time, I'm not going There's a fear in me, it's not showing This could be the end of me And everything I know But it's not my time, I'm not going There's a will in me and now I know that This could be the end of me And everything I know, ooh, but I won't go! I won't go! There might be more than you believe (There might be more than you believe) And there might be more than you can see But I won't go, oh no I won't go down, yeah This expresses the possibility that their is no afterlife but at the same time there maybe indeed be an afterlife. Clearly, just because we can't take the afterlife and dissect it bit by bit in a laboratory doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

University Professor to study life after death

Well well A university professor John Martin Fischer wants to study life after death and get scientists involved in it with a 5 million dollar fund. The problem is there is already an vastly abundant amount of scientific evidence for life after death. Why reinvent the wheel?. Is mainstream science going to be open minded about this research like that were before?. Which history clearly shows they weren't they shoved it off as pure nonsense. Sure adding more evidence to an mountain of evidence doesn't hurt however giving the impression that no hardcore research has been done on this topic is laughable. Also, knowing this philosopher is a christian don't mean he's closed minded no. It means though we very well could skew the data to fit his christian worldview. He can ignore the overwhelming evidence for the existence of an afterlife that doesn't fit into a christian worldview all he wants but it comes with a price. A price in the truth.

What I got for Christmas

Here is what I got for christmas. - Ps3 system 320gb Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception - Wwe 13 video game - Ufc Undisputed - Additional Ps3 controller - Sweater and pair of pants - A bag of black socks - Wwe encyclopedia book - 50 pack of blank cds - A poster - Some candy, lotto tickets Was pleased with everything I got this christmas.

Well the world didn't end

As we all know the world did not end on Dec 26. No surprise there at all I am sure the doomsayers aren't happy. Of course, the gullible people that did fall for this are out of lots of money buying books, preparation kits etc. I can't feel sorry for them was their ever any evidence that this would really happen?. Of course there was no evidence.
